Beryl Gardinant, a self-proclaimed “humble old man,” is a sword instructor at his dojo in a rural, backwater village. In his younger years, he dreamed of glory as a master swordsman, but those days are long behind him. Out of the blue, he receives a visit from a famous former pupil who brings him world-shattering news—he's been appointed as special instructor for the knights of the Liberion Order! With his life now turned upside down, Beryl travels to the capital and reunites with some of his former students: elite knights, an ace wizard, and even an adventurer who's attained the highest guild rank possible. But why do they all want his tutelage?! As far as he's concerned, they clearly don't need him anymore. Can Beryl live up to his new position? And will he ever get a moment's peace away from his adoring students?!

Season picksMust watchSpring 2025A humble backwater dojo master is invited to the capital as an instructor and discovers his former students are now legendary heroes who have never met a stronger swordsman. Another overpowered-but-humble lead with an oblivious harem, but with technical, well-researched sword fights and a Mushoku Tensei look. Wholesome, with likable characters and men who respect each other, led by a middle-aged man who acts his age: a solid show that brings a huge smile.
Worst of the seasonBad but funSpring 2025On paper a 40-year-old virgin teacher whose hot former students are now the kingdom's mightiest heroines, but it is not netorare: it is a nerdy, technical exploration of real sword technique in a likable low-fantasy world. The lead is too stand-up a guy to ponder how anyone's armor stays on. Impressive 3D CG sells the fights: four novelty baskets of garlic bread.
