Season picksDecentWinter 2026A long-awaited adaptation of one of the earliest girl-crossdressing-at-a-boys'-school shojo series. It suffers because so many works it inspired reached anime first, making every beat easy to predict. Fun tropey comfort food that would stand out in a less stacked season.
Worst of the seasonBad but funWinter 2026The long-awaited adaptation of the 1996 manga that pioneered the girl-crossdressing-at-a-boys'-school romcom, with a love interest who is refreshingly not an idiot and a best friend who gets hilariously confused about his feelings. Its iconic gags have been copied to death, but the character writing is still good and the story flows faster than its imitators, if a bit rushed emotionally. Three frilly trash cans.
