The bloodlines of “Oni” and “Momotarou” have been passed down among certain humans for generations. Long ago, the Oni, aware of their own ferocity, lived in seclusion. However, their peace was shattered by an invasion led by Momotarou. Over thousands of years, these two factions formed the “Momotarou Agency” and the “Oni Agency,” respectively, and have been locked in conflict ever since. The protagonist, Shiki Ichinose, suddenly learns of his Oni lineage following an unexpected attack by Momotarou. This revelation sets Shiki on a path to discover the destiny that lies within his blood — a meeting with the Oni dwelling within him. —A new generation of dark heroics begins here in this tale of demons!

Season picksDecentSummer 2025A Kirkland-brand Blue Exorcist knockoff about oni-blooded people fighting Momotaro's descendants. It feels tepid until a geriatric ogre hunter Matrix-dodged a blood cruise missile from the military-otaku hero. The oni look metal, but the Momotaros' crackly 3D effects look bad.
Worst of the seasonBad but funSummer 2025The extra-edgy Blue Exorcist knockoff with a blood-based power system, somewhere between Jujutsu Kaisen and Blue Exorcist. The hero is basically Chainsaw Man made of blood guns, the fights are really cool, and there's a badass gyaru brawler. Irresistible to the inner 13-year-old: three trash cans of blood and razor blades.
