When Teruaki Nakamura transfers to laid-back Okinawa, he falls for the lively Kyan-san—but her dialect is a complete mystery to him. With Higa-san translating, Teru’s misunderstanding-filled island life takes off...and subtle hints suggest Higa-san might want his heart too. On this serene island, love flows as freely as the ocean breeze!

Season picksMust watchWinter 2025A transfer student has a crush on a girl who speaks thick Okinawan dialect, so her best friend, who secretly likes him and is high-key best girl, translates everything. The romance is a through line for facts and jokes about Okinawan culture, language and history that are as fascinating as they are hilarious. Gorgeous, characterful animation sells Okinawa as a place to visit, and it is cute and funny to boot.
