When Sakamoto meets Aoi, the convenience store clerk, it’s love at first sight — and just like that, he retires. Sakamoto gets married, has a daughter, opens a mom-and-pop store in a quiet town, and completely transforms … into a plus-size man. To ensure a peaceful life with his beloved family, the legendary ex–hit man bands together with comrades to face off against the looming threat of assassins. Senpai’s take
Season picksMust watchWinter 2025A legendary assassin turned chubby convenience store dad must fend off a bounty without killing anyone, or his wife divorces him. The same phenomenal Jump story with great humor, bonkers action and a rock-solid emotional core, but the adaptation is not that well animated and leans on storyboards and sound to carry fights that are among the best in the manga. A disappointment next to its potential that still ends up pretty good.
