Season picksMust watchWinter 2026In a grimdark magitech world, heroes are criminals condemned to fight a mutagenic demon blight forever, revived by the church each time they die and losing a bit of themselves each time. It is the best over-the-top fantasy action this winter, even against Frieren and Jujutsu Kaizen, with rich worldbuilding, compelling characters and brilliant visual storytelling. Studio Kai's feature-film premiere can't last, but the music, art direction and storyboards make it the pick of the season.
