Season picksMust watchWinter 2024Bones' 25th-anniversary cyberpunk original about an underclass of androids on a Mars settlement, some of whom secretly transform into tokusatsu-style heroes. It is obtuse, with a cold open and show-don't-tell storytelling that leaves the setting feeling more like a vibe than a concrete place. That vibe is immaculate, though: fully 2D-animated mech fights and the musical energy of Bones since the Bebop movie make it a must for anyone who enjoys the finer things in anime.
